Get your Cowboy On
By jennycarson
In today’s society, one can encounter any number of fashion styles throughout their day to day travels. One of the longest standing styles, and still a fan favorite, is the good old cowboy look. Contrary to the style of years gone by, today’s cowboy doesn’t necessarily feature a handlebar moustache and ten gallon hat. No, the cowboy’s of today might simply walk by wearing a ratty pair of loose-fitting jeans and a sexy Tim McGraw hat; a must-have.
If you want to get the cowboy look for a night on the town, or just want to try something new, there are certain things you can do to liven up your look a bit. Some of the things to make you look like a cowboy are simple. Back to the Tim McGraw hat. Other things you can do may take awhile; no you don’t have to break out the Skoal.
Comfort and Style
Jeans are a huge part of a cowboy’s life. Think relaxed, not fitted. Think comfort, not high-dollar style. The cowboy has a style all his own and its all about comfort. You’ve got to be able to wrangle those horses, or women, while still looking and feeling good in your jeans and Tim McGraw hat. When a cowboy wants to dress up, he dons his black jeans instead of the faded blue ones. Shirt and tie are not a part of the cowboy attire, unless someone is getting married; most of the time only if it is the cowboy himself who is getting married. Got to start things off on the right foot, eh?
The Boots
Speaking of starting on the right foot, a cowboy would be nothing without his boots. The boots a cowboy wears are for function, not fashion. This doesn’t mean they can’t look nice, but too nice and you’re just trying too hard. This makes your job easy, when you want to get your cowboy on. All you have to do is find a comfortable pair of cowboy boots and wear them well. No tucking the jeans in! Cowboy boots don’t fit like your favorite pair of tennis shoes. They can take some getting used to. But once you wear them in, they may be your new favorite item. Still, don’t take to wearing them with your shorts in the summertime.
The Cowboy Look
Now, if you really want to go all out to get that rugged cowboy look all your own, you can go far enough as to grow that moustache or goatee. At the very least, you can get a good five o’clock shadow going. With that little bit of stubble, your perfect pair of jeans, those pointed toe cowboy boots and your Tim McGraw hat, you will have no problem catching the eye of that special cowgirl you want to ride off into the sunset with…at least you can share a beer or two.
Discovering a New You
Looking the part of a cowboy isn’t all too difficult. The few necessary items you need are mentioned here. Other than that, pull up those boot straps and hunker down a good dose of confidence and slow, easy charm. Who knows? This could be the start of a whole new you!
